From Ask EVA to POVO: Building the Next Generation of Multi-Agent Orchestration

"Can EVA help our students with homework, emotional support, career planning, and portfolio building?"

That was the bold question one of our nonprofit partners asked us not long ago.

They had already been using Ask EVA to boost student engagement and retention across their edtech platform. But now, they wanted more. They envisioned a single AI companion that could walk alongside students through academics, emotions, and life decisions—always available, always understanding.

It was an inspiring vision. But also a very ambitious one.

Where Existing Multi-Agent Tools Fall Short

There are plenty of tools on the market—powerful orchestration frameworks like Autogen, n8n, and others. But none of them could fully deliver the seamless, emotionally intelligent, multi-domain support our partner was asking for.

Here’s why:

1. Most Multi-Agent Frameworks Are Stateless and Linear

They’re great at triggering workflows or managing isolated tasks. But rich, ongoing conversations—especially those involving memory, nuance, and emotional depth—are simply out of scope.

2. They Struggle with Intent, Emotion, and Context Shifts

Let’s say a user starts with:

“Can you help me with my math homework?”...and then pivots to: “I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately.”

These systems don’t gracefully handle that shift. They lose context, break character, or respond inappropriately—leading to disconnected, robotic interactions.

3. They Lack Controlled Determinism Across Agents

In a truly supportive system, users shouldn’t feel like they’re talking to different bots. You need a shared brain—a framework that routes messages to the right agent at the right time, while maintaining a single, coherent personality.

____________

Introducing POVO: The Next Generation of Multi-Agent Orchestration

To meet these challenges, we’ve started building something new.

It’s called POVO — a multi-agent orchestration framework designed specifically for intelligent, emotionally-aware conversations across domains. https://github.com/y3s-labs/povo

Built on LangGraph, POVO enables stateless services that can manage:

  • ✅ Session storage

  • ✅ Intent extraction

  • ✅ Routing

  • ✅ Multi-agent orchestration

While tools like Autogen are stochastic by design (great for LLM-to-LLM collaboration), POVO focuses on predictability, reproducibility, and emotional coherence—critical for education, healthcare, and other trust-sensitive domains. It is the the next generation of Multi-Agent orchestration.

Ask EVA Is Just the Beginning

POVO powers the next evolution of Ask EVA, which started in the education space—but its potential reaches much further.

Whether you’re a:

  • 🧘 Health & wellness brand offering daily guidance and accountability

  • 💼 Coach or consultant looking to scale your presence without losing personal touch

  • 🧪 SaaS platform that wants to onboard and retain users through interactive education

  • 🚀 Tech company seeking more intelligent, human-centered interfaces

Ask EVA can help you engage, retain, and support your users with care.

We also offer custom AI solutions for organizations looking to:

  • Reduce churn

  • Improve LTV

  • Deliver personalized support at scale

“EVA doesn’t just talk. She listens, learns, and builds trust.”

A Nod to the Past, and a Step Toward the Future

POVO is inspired by JOVO, a Node.js framework we used at RAIN to build deterministic flows for Alexa—and later, a prescription management assistant for the VA.

That same discipline—structured, reliable, and context-aware agent design—now guides how we’re building EVA’s next evolution.

What’s Next?

POVO is still a work in progress, but we’re building it with the goal of making agentic systems:

  • More human

  • More intentional

  • And more useful, across industries

If you’re building AI-powered experiences that need real conversation intelligence, or if you want to explore how EVA can serve your users—we’d love to chat.
